Boris Pasternak..Ideologia y Estilos

ARTISTIC STAGES

Registered person in its origins in the futurist avant-garde, it is easy to divide the Pasternak career in several periods. The first one, from its beginning until 1932, understands so notable works for its linguistic innovations that exercised a strong influence in the whole generation of Soviet poets. Written in the revolutionary years 20, in full search of a new style, Pasternak was erected in leader of the poetical avant-garde and fixed its position in the poetry later to the revolution.

In the thirties and in the years of the war its work became simpler and simple. Its poetry of this period is excellent, but not top to cultivated in its first epoch.

Its third stage includes the years 1945−1955, turning towards the prose and the Doctor's creation Zhivago. In these years, and until 1960, year of its death, its poetry is more concrete and direct. This was provoked perhaps by an interior crisis that led him to condemning the literary virtuosity of its youth. Some critics of the exile incline to think it and to suppose the disapproval of the first verbal excesses on the part of the poet.

In its ripeness, overcome forty years of age, Pasternak had turned the back to the keys of its poetry that granted so many influence in the 20s and 30s. Nevertheless, its denial of the past must not take literally; for him there turned out to be always less important the past time than the present thing. Its caminocomplejo and direction maintains the same direction in all its career, and its works were always provided with an internal unit in its evolution. In fact, the coherence always presided at its trajectory.

IDEOLOGY AND STYLE

In the 20s, Pasternak was acclaimed like the biggest poet of the age post−revolucionaria, but it never obtained the popularity of Maiakovski or Yessenin. His was the figure of a man in struggle with its environment, putting up its personal convictions against the collective thought. Shologov would call him a crab hermit. This denomination makes us see its condition of man solitary and isolated, misled in the events of the epoch. Its friend said of him the poet Annenkov, that Pasternak received the revolution as if it was a new phonetics or a new music. It was at that time inside the futurist current, and many of its partners adhered to the cause of the Communist Party.

The ventajistas and opportunists were celebrating the five-year plans, the Stalin knowledge. He kept on expressing, nevertheless, its thoughts and feelings, foreign to the official orders, refusing to do of the literature a way of propaganda and education of the masses, to compose political poems and servilistas. The nature, the love, the solitude and everything what surrounds the man were its favorite topics. The communist Pasternak enemies recognized its genius, but they attacked him constantly and called him a decadent formalist, in disagreement with its epoch and foreign the people.

Its thought remained covered in numerous occasions, but it expressed to its way the lamentation of those whom the oppression was condemning to the silence. Its philosophy was mixing the exaltation of the life and the pantheistic love of the nature with the Christian concepts of spirituality and brotherhood, which was opposed to the communist dogma. It pushed the art theory back for the art, but its poetry was contrasting with the primitive cánones of the stalinismo−krushevismo. Its moral component high place did to him symbol of courage and valor, what provoked that it was always under the threat of the calumny.

WINTER NIGHT.....BORIS PASTERNAK

The poetry of Boris Pasternak was a synthesis of the classic tradition, the musical universe simbolista and the tendency to the colloquial language of the futurists, combined with the proper religious images of the surrealism. In Pasternak the first rains fall down, it snows for the first time, everything happens for the first time. The lexical laboratory of the futurist was trying, on the contrary, to know anything either about the beginning, about the creation, nor either of the continuity and the tradition. Maiakovski was saying of its rhythms that there were the disharmony of the war and of the revolutions. For Pasternak the poetry was an ingenuousness and intellect, innocence and refinement, excess and a calculation, a contemplation and abstraction and, especially, detail.

Although it resorts in few occasions to the neologisms and is not dark, its poetical language is so slightly common, the election and such a wide scope of the words, that only with a constant effort the reader can come to the proper world of the poet. Pasternak constructs its poetry by means of the contrapuntal method, focusing the same topic from completely opposite poles or joining different topics without they possessing no relation between themselves, excepting the polyphony of the language. Its metaphors are often surprising:

The glaciers discover the face as the souls resurrectas of the dead persons. It moves away so much from the hiperbolismo of Maiakovski as from the extravagance of the imaginistas, preserving the strangest of its analogies a miscellany of logic and fantasy. It usually obtains an approach of concepts that derives from the phonetic kinship of the words and the sounds, following the formalist theory of obtaining an original effect as essential poetical procedure, and uses also unexpected associations to the futurist and surrealistic way. It surprises also in the constant use of familiar ways, but, in spite of everything, its poetry is not cold but spontaneous, and its tropes, images, and its big verbal wealth there constitute a poetical culmination.

It is neither pretentious nor affected, and its discoveries just reflect its originality and its belief of which the tone was the indissoluble union between the substance and the way of expressing it. This was one of the reasons for which it showed its dissatisfaction with its inexperienced style.

In its epic in poem Spektorski (1931), which shows the experiences of a young Muscovite intellectual during the revolution, Pasternak discovers the objectivity and the limitation. The words come down to a shorthand concision, in a prosaic and daily, full antilyricism language, of which test is the following text:

Wineglasses. Letters of meals and drinks.
Carpets. Palms.
Steam of dared. Baskets procession.
Hisses and tumult. Hard napkins.
Conductors. Silver buckets.
Candelabra. Human swarm.
And the noise tintineante of the plates,
After some hit others.

In the autobiographical history Safe-conduct, the intensity and the direction of the emotion determine the grade and the displacement of the same one. The delight of its poetry consists of its facility to displace forms, objects, events and concepts, creating a poetical reality into which the phenomena of the universe are transformed.

The physical and spiritual levels are considered to be aspects of a unit, and Pasternak journeys quite of emotions, defining its work as realistic. The truth is revealed across the natural phenomena, the senses, and the activity of the men. It goes on with enormous facility of the objects to the feelings, plays with the concepts of space, time and movement. The poetry is not for him an intellectual manipulation, but beauty in the creation of an autonomous and real universe.

Its first literary stage transported Pasternak the reputation of incomprehensible; but the intelligible Pasternak it kept on being socially uncomfortable. Already in 1932 it had promulgated the heresy of the big simplicity beginning to touch existential topics, introducing a message, preluding the comparison of life and suffering, of love and sacrifice. This moral evaluation is born of the serenity, the love acquires form of cosmic feeling, of substance of the universe.

Explosion

Explosion of forms, of colors, of fantasy. Explosion of imagination, Fashion, color, force, curves, Before the woman's beauty, before its interior world, before its power of seduction, its secret weapon..... there is an excessively intelligent, great being more than most of the men, and that you excuse these to me, and I exhibit its most positive facets, because others, which also exist, can be seen in many works of Schopenhauer. Which, also they exist.

They are women, there are an explosion, they are there to go crazy the men with its small daily ideas, as changeable as the autumn days.... sunny to midday clouded to 20 minutes, and rainy 1 hour later. But undoubtedly something magic, which attracts us and hooks, since it is a vision of the world, which escapes from the men, Photos of the professional model and Russian photographic artist Kristina Yakimova

BORIS PASTERNAK....VIDA Y TRAYECTORIA LITERARIA

VIDA Y TRAYECTORIA LITERARIA

LIFE AND LITERARY TRAJECTORY

Boris Pasternak was born in 1890 in one of the families most distinguished from the old Moscow. Its mother was a pianist who had been educated musically by Rubinstein, and its father Leonid a recognized painter, portraitist of Tolstoi and of Rilke, of those that personal friend was, and also of Lenin or, already in the exile, of Einstein and Stresemann. Four children grew up in the family: Boris, Alexander, who would be an architect in Moscow, Lidia and Josephine.

The musical and refined Moscow, the persons of status and name were giving themselves appointment in the house of the Pasternak, in which there was maturing a child destined to do of this plenty of culture, knowledge, esthetic incentives, of western and oriental artistic wealths, the set of instruments of its art, to throw it with the age as an unbearable load and, at least in the poetry, to find it again like heresy of the unheard-of simplicity.

The Christian Pasternak baptism was a matter of the family kept secretly. The flame of the orthodox faith, which had to be in such an important future in its evolution, is at first a secret severely protected to that only one alludes in few occasions, since the cultural cosmopolitism of the house of this Jewish family was encouraging other inclinations. At the end of its years of baccalaureate (1908), Pasternak it registers in the faculty of right of the university of Moscow, passing to the musician and to the philosophy. In 1912 it leaves to Marburg, head office of the German neokantismo. One year later, concluded its studies in Moscow, he becomes convinced of that for him alone a vocation exists, that of the poetry.

The cultural pessimism of the Russia prerrevolucionaria had found its seat in the literature, in whose bosom the lyric poetry was possessing such a preponderance that could serve like exponent of the spirit of the epoch. The chapter of the big Russian novel was finished; the poetry, on the contrary, was the modern thing, the freedom without borders or considerations that one was showing outwardly in the yellow jackets of the futurists, and internally in the predisposition for any formal and spiritual experiment.

Pasternak devotes himself in the last years of the zarismo to prove three main tendencies of the Russian poetry of the epoch: the symbolism, the acmeísmo and the futurism, being assigned to the latter in its moderate version.

The attitude of the Russian futurists was answering to the orientation towards Occident, to the modernism that had invaded Russia. Its Russian variant, the symbolism, with its conception of the poetry as revelation of the last truth and with its religious mysticism, is pushed back by Pasternak in its phase of of that time as dark and cluttered, although it maintains relation with intelligentsia of the magazines Musaget and Apollon, influenced by the symbolism.

Externally Pasternak takes the modest life of a particular teacher who in its free moments writes. In 1914 he translates for the Theater of camera of Moscow The broken Kleist pitcher, and its first poetry volume appears The twin in the cloud. It escapes from the service in opposite to cause of an early wound in the leg, and travels in 1915 round Russia, concluding in Siberia; from there it returns after the revolution explodes to Moscow.

In 1917 he publishes Beyond the borders and one year later it begins to be employed like librarian at the Department of Education.

The habit of the age NEP of printing, for economic motives, a part of its production numerous Russian publishing houses entrusted to the private initiative, made possible to Pasternak to visit in Germany its parents and sisters with the official permission of the Government because of a serious ailment of its mother, who would not return any more to Russia. In 1922 My sister was published, the life in Berlin, conquering wide readership circles.

It was forming with Maiakovski and Yessenin the constellation of figures of the Soviet poetry. In 1924 there is born the first son of Pasternak, Yevgeni, and there edits the story The infancy of Luver and the fourth volume of poetry Topics and changes; two years later, the epic in poem, Spektorski. In 1927 it treats for the first time a revolutionary topic, in the histories turned The year 1905 and The lieutenant Schmidt, fact that is received by respect but without enthusiasm. Between 1931 and 1933 he publishes the autobiographical story inspired by Proust and Rilke,

The safe-conduct, and Ways in the air. One year earlier it had separated of its first wife, who would marry soon the famous Soviet pianist Heinrich Neuhaus, and of its son.

It goes on journey with Sinaida Neuhaus, its future wife, towards Tiflis, where the Georgian poet Paolo Yaschvili gathers him. In 1934 its finished poetry appears, and the Bujarin admiration arises in the Writers' First Congress, but also a species of semiofficial prohibition to publish, not extensive to its translator activity.

The versions that Pasternak does of Verlaine, Goethe, Schiller, Kleist, Shelley, Shakespeare, or of Georgian poetry, are works of high literary value. It moves to the writers' Peredelkino colony, along with Moscow, where in 1938 its son Leonid is born. In the Writers' Union the treatment begins, and Pasternak is fled, periodically irresolutely and loved in silence. In 1943, in the Second full World war, he publishes the poetry volume In early trains, and in 1945 Distance terrena.

In the year 1946 Shdanov watched the darkness of the age, and Fadeiev, he was nominated again a Secretary-General of the Writers' Union, the first thing that it did it was to insult its Peredelkino neighbor. The doors were again closed. He continued nevertheless with the Doctor's creation Zhivago, and with the translation of Magnificence. In 1956 the writing of the magazine New World pushed the Doctor's publication Zhivago back, and in 1957 the Italian version of the work was appearing.

On October 24, 1958 the Swedish Academy invited Pasternak to receive the Nobel Prize of Literature on December 10 of this year. On October 26 he accepts the grateful, moved, proud award.... This provoked the anger of the Soviet authorities, being chased and isolated. On October 28 it was expelled from the Union of Soviet Writers and 29 he was resigning from the Nobel Prize.

Later they wanted to take the citizenship from him and to expel it from the country. For that reason he wrote to Krushchev, and kept on living isolated of its friends, isolated and under the threat of being seen in the street, because its Peredelkino house belonged to the Union of Writers Soviéticos. In a time it was forced to leave it,

KVAS - OKROSHKA

For centuries, the "kvas", has been the favorite drink of the Russians, during the stifling summer heats. Literally the word KVAS, it means "yeast of bread". It is a question of a very soft fermented alcoholic beverage, stronger round 2,2 grades of alcoholic concentration, although also varieties exist without alcohol.
