Trevor Pinnok

Nació el 16 de diciembre de 1946 en Canterbury, Reino Unido. Empezó su formación musical como corista en la catedral de su ciudad natal y después pasó a estudiar órgano y clavecín en el Royal Collegue of Music, logrando premios de interpretación en ambos instrumentos. 

Pronto empezó a interesarse por la música barroca y formó parte de la prestigiosa Academy of Saint-Martin-in-the-Fields. Las experiencias que fué conociendo acerca de la práctica interpretativa historicista le impulsaron a fundar en 1972 su propio grupo. "The English Concert", al frente del cual adquirió experiencia y prestigio como director de orquesta, si bien, nunca ha abandonado del todo, su carrera como clavecinista, instrumento del cual es considerado como uno de los mejores interpretes.

Sus interpretaciones, dotadas de una gran personalidad, destacan por su elegancia y vitalidad. Tales características definen tambien al Pinnok director de orquesta, cuya inquietud natural, le llevó a mediados de la década de 1980 a ponerse al frente de dos formaciones sinfónicas tradicionales. Ademas de la English Concert, dirige habitualmente orquestas como la Sinfónica de Boston, Detroit y San Francisco entre otras.

Aún siendo un reconocido experto en el repertorio barroco, no duda en abordar composiciones de autores y epocas y estéticas tan distintas como Beethoven, Dvorak, Poulenc y Falla. En 1991 asumió la dirección como titular de la Orquesta del Centro Nacional de las Artes de Ottawa, actualmente prosigue su carrera como clavecinista y director,  y en este último aspecto, tanto en el repertorio sinfónico y concertante, como en el operístico, donde se le recuerda especialmente por su triunfal debut en el Metropolitan Opera House de New York en 1988, dirigiendo la Opera Julio Cesar de Haendel.  

Su discografia es amplisima, tanto en calidad de clavecinista, como de director, y en ella se encuentran algunas referencias destacadas por la crítica especializada, siendo dignas de mención las obras de Purcell, Haendes, Bach, Vivaldi, y Scarlatti.

He was born on December 16, 1946 in Canterbury, the United Kingdom. It began its musical formation as chorister in the cathedral of its hometown and later he happened to study organ and spinet in Royal Collegue of Music, achieving interpretation awards in both instruments. Soon he began being interested by the baroque music and he was part of the prestigious Academy of Saint-Martin-in-the-Fields. The experiences that it knew about the historicist interpretive practice impelled him to found in 1972 their own group. "The English Concert", at the head of which he acquired experience and prestige like conductor, although, it has never left completely, its career like clavecinist, instrument of which he is considered to be one of the best interpreters.

Its interpretations provided with a big personality, stand out for its elegance and vitality. Such characteristics define also the Pinnok conductor, whose natural worry, it led him in the middle of the decade of 1980 to putting itself at the head of two traditional symphonic formations. In addition to English Concert, it usually directs bands as the Symphonic one of Boston, Detroit and San Francisco between others.

Being a recognized expert in the baroque repertoire, he still does not hesitate to tackle authors' compositions and epochs and esthetics so different as Beethoven, Dvorak, Poulenc and Flaw. In 1991 it assumed the direction as starter of the Band of the National Center of the Arts of Ottawa, at present he continues its career as clavecinist and the director, and in the latter aspect, both in the symphonic and concerting repertoire, and in the operatic one, where he is reminded to himself especially for its triumphal début in by the Metropolitan Opera House of New York in 1988, directing the Opera Julius Caesar de Haendel.  

Its discography is the widest, both as clavecinist, and of the director, and in her there are some references emphasized by the specializing criticism, being worth of mention the works of Purcell, Haendes, Bach, Vivaldi, and Scarlatti.
