PIETRO VASSALLETTO....ITALIA

Pietro Vassalletto era un escultor italiano que pertenece a una familia de artistas activos en el siglos 12 - 14 en Roma. Dos familias romanas de marbleworkers (marmorati) actuaron sobre una escala enorme en este período. Cosmati y Vassalletto. En Santa Cecilia en Trastevere, San Giovanni en Laterano y San Lorenzo fuori le Mura la talla y la decoración mosaica son el trabajo de estas familias. La responsabilidad del trabajo entero en el claustro de San Giovanni en Laterano se puede atribuir a la familia de Vassalletto.








El templo en San Lorenzo (1148) y el candelabro en San Paolo fuori le Mura (c. 1170) son los ejemplos principales del trabajo de la primera generación de la familia de Vassalletto. La silla del obispo y dos ambos en San Lorenzo fuori le Mura fueron realizados por el taller de Vassalletto en el segundo cuarto del  siglo 13.

SAN GIOVANNI IN LATERANO



Pietro Vassalletto was an Italian sculptor belonging to a family of artists active in the 12th-14th centuries in Rome. Two Roman families of marbleworkers (marmorati) operated on a vast scale at this period. Cosmati and Vassalletto. At Santa Cecilia in Trastevere, San Giovanni in Laterano and San Lorenzo fuori le Mura the carving and mosaic decoration are the work of these families. The responsibility for the entire work in the cloister of San Giovanni in Laterano can be attributed to the Vassalletto family.

The tabernacle in San Lorenzo (1148) and the candelabra in San Paolo fuori le Mura (c. 1170) are the main examples of the work by the first generation of the Vassalletto family. The bishop's chair and two ambos in the San Lorenzo fuori le Mura were carried out by the Vassalletto workshop in the second quarter of the 13th century.
