Andrey Rublyov (Andrei Rublev) pintor ruso y monje. Todos sus trabajos conocidos y los atribuidos a él se emprendieron en Moscú y en ciudades y monasterios cerca; se puede por lo tanto describir como un representante de la escuela de Moscú de la pintura, pero su trabajo tenía una influencia profunda en el desarrollo del arte ruso en general.
Hay poco conocimiento seguro de su vida o trabajos. En 1405 trabajó como el ayudante a Theophanes el griego en la Catedral de la Anunciación en el Kremlin en Moscú, pero no ha sido posible distinguir su parte allí o en la Catedral de la Dormición en Vladimir donde también se dice que ha pintado la pintura mural.
El trabajo que está de pie en el centro de su oeuvre es el icono famoso de la Trinidad del Antiguo testamento (que es los tres ángeles aparecidos a Abraham) en la galería Tretyakov, Moscú. En su belleza lírica suave esto marca un movimiento lejos de la tradición Bizantina hierática, y otros iconos en el estilo similar se han atribuido a Rublyov.

There is little secure knowledge of his life or works. In 1405 he worked as assistant to Theophanes the Greek in the Cathedral of the Annunciation in the Kremlin in Moscow, but it has not been possible to distinguish his share there or in the Cathedral of the Dormition at Vladimir where he is also said to have painted murals.
The work that stands at the centre of his oeuvre is the celebrated icon of the Old Testament Trinity (that is the three angels appeared to Abraham) in the Tretyakov Gallery, Moscow. In its gentle lyrical beauty this marks a move away from the hieratic Byzantine tradition, and other icons in similar style have been attributed to Rublyov.
